Matt Lowe

Sergeant Matt Lowe has served in law enforcement for over 24 years – The first eight in suburban Chicago which included one year working in state corrections. The remaining balance of his law enforcement career has been with the Carlsbad Police Department. Sergeant Lowe has worked in the Patrol Division, Traffic Division, and spent two tours in the Investigations Division both as a detective and detective sergeant. Sergeant Lowe was awarded the Departments Medal of Valor is 2007 for interrupting a stabbing and saving a life while off-duty. Sergeant Lowe has served on the Carlsbad Police Officers’ Association Board of Directors as Secretary since 2015.

Sergeant Lowe recently organized a “Fill the Police Motorcycle Boot” fundraiser for the fallen San Diego Police Department Officer. He would like to thank all the caring citizens who donated to make this event so successful. 100% of the donations went to the family of the fallen officer.

Matt Jencen

Matt Jencen is currently the POA board Treasurer, he has held this position since April of 2017. Matt grew up in Wisconsin until he joined the Marine Corps in 2001 as a Military Policeman. While in the Marine Corps, Matt worked in the Brig (Jail) on Camp Pendleton. After completing his enlistment, Matt obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences and a Master’s Degree in Forensic Science. Matt has worked for the Carlsbad Police Department for over 3 years and is currently assigned to the Patrol Division.

Shaun Lawton

“I have been a Police Officer for 15 years. I have worked for the City of Carlsbad for 11 years and prior to that worked as an Officer for the city of LA Mesa. I am currently assigned to the Traffic division as a motor Officer. My collateral duties include: Field Training Officer, SWAT team member, Defensive Tactics instructor and tactical communications instructor. I am a resident of Carlsbad and am proud to protect and serve the community that I work for. I am honored to have been elected to the CPOA board and given the opportunity to help make Carlsbad a better and safer place to live and work.”
